Lighting the way to sustainability

By adopting bright, white, energy-efficient LEDs, our Dodson, Louisiana facility has demonstrated how thoughtful improvements can enhance facilities while promoting environmental sustainability.

By embracing sustainability and prioritizing innovative solutions, JELD-WEN's Dodson, Louisiana, facility has made impactful strides toward energy efficiency.

Through replacing 848 traditional lights with 643 LED lights, the facility is estimated to save approximately 1,441,373 kilowatt hours (kWh) per year and 534 metric tons of CO2 equivalents (CO2-e) (estimates based on vendor proposal). This commitment to energy efficiency helps optimize energy resources, which reduces greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while also improving efficiency in the facility.

The Dodson facility can also expect to see annual savings by making the change to LED bulbs.

Not only was the Dodson team proactive in making their work environment more energy-efficient while also reducing costs, but they improved safety and contributed to a better work environment for many employees.

"This project made a noticeable impact on safety, quality, morale and the environment," said Keith Holliman, plant manager. "We were able to make areas brighter and ensure proper lighting with less fixtures. I've gotten a lot of great feedback from our employees regarding this change."

"Safety for our associates is top priority. Proper lighting helps us see that through," noted Jimmy Woodel, site project lead. "I can tell the bright lights are contributing to a huge boost to the team's mood. It changes the way you see the facility and makes you feel better about where you work."
